In October 2024 Kjetil Amundsen joined Ework as the new Managing Director in Norway.
We decided to ask Kjetil a few questions to learn more about his background, what he brings to Ework and of course what puts a smile on his face outside of the office.
Kjetil Amundsen, began his career at Accenture in 2001 and have over the next two decades held positions of increasing responsibility within sales, marketing, and management at global multinationals such as Novartis, Carlsberg, and Johnson & Johnson. He has also served as CEO at Aksell (formerly 07 Media Group), deputy CEO at IDÈ Group, and worked as a Management Consultant.
What led you to join Ework Group as the Managing Director for Norway?
“I have always gravitated toward positions where I can work alongside talented individuals with challenging projects – focusing on driving growth, innovation and improving customer loyalty – which I believe is exactly what the position as MD Norway for Ework represent. So, I am super excited to get this opportunity and can’t wait to crack on.”
As you step into your new role, what are your immediate priorities and goals for Ework Group in Norway?
“The first priority will be to talk to as many people as possible, across countries, functions and teams. Really try to understand our company, our culture, our industry, our customers to gain a clear understanding of what is working well and what requires improvement.” Kjetil Amundsen says and continues:
“Obviously I will spend the majority of my time with the Norwegian team and to really get to know each one. To learn what drives them, what their passions are and how we at Ework Group Norway can support our customers and partners even better in the months and years to come. From what I have seen so far, I’m very optimistic about our ability to further strengthen our position in the Norwegian market – so stay tuned!”
How do you see the current state of the consultancy and talent management industry in Norway, and where do you see the greatest opportunities for growth?
“As I’ve only been in this role for a few days, I’ll be cautious about offering a definitive perspective, but here’s my take! On one hand, the past few years have been challenging due to regulatory changes in Norway. On the other hand, market trends present clear opportunities for the industry. The demand for talent shows no sign of slowing down, with digital transformation needed across both public and private sectors. Finding and retaining talent remains difficult, creating a strong need for companies that can bridge the gap between great talent and challenging assignments. The world keeps changing, but those who adapt quickly and stay focused on delivering quality services will thrive. In the end, business is always personal, and it's the people who make the difference."
What message would you like to convey to the employees, clients, and consultants who are part of the Ework Group Norway community?
“Richard Branson said that “Business has to give people enriching, rewarding lives or it’s simply not worth doing.” This perfectly aligns with my belief that the great game of business is NOT to be played unless your employees, clients and consultants are ultimate winners. Really understanding what drives, motivates and bring out the best in our Ework community of talents will be the best way to secure our common future. My focus going forward will be to better understand how we can work together to achieve a worthwhile future together – building a strong and unique Ework community where talents thrive for the benefit of individuals, organizations and society.”
Lastly, on a personal note, what hobbies or interests do you pursue outside of work that help you maintain a work-life balance?
“As the saying goes; all Norwegians are born with skis on their feet – which I guess also applies to me. I have always loved skiing and playing around in the snow. Nothing recharges me more than a few hours on the slopes, feeling the crisp cold air on my face and the fresh powder beneath my skis. And wrapping up the day by a cozy fireplace – with a piece of chocolate? That’s the perfect ending!”
