Ework Group has set science-based emission reductions target. The targets has been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and by 2030 Ework Group commits to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.
”We are proud to have our science-based targets approved. This is an important milestone on our sustainability journey and the real work has only just begun. By joining the SBTi, we demonstrate our leadership and responsibility in addressing the climate crisis. Reducing our greenhouse gas emissions is a strategic requirement for our business, affecting our ability to thrive in a developing market. We are committed to continue improving our operational efficiency and create long-term value for our stakeholders.” Says Malin Fondin
Our climate is hurting and the need for people, companies, organizations and the society to work to reduce emissions and work for a better climate is crucial. To help enterprises to set and reach climate targets the SBTi was founded.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling organizations to set science-based emissions reduction targets. The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi call to action is one of the “We Mean Business Coalition commitments”.
More than 4,000 companies
In 2021, the SBTi entered a period of exponential growth doubling the number of new companies setting and committing to set targets, and tripling the rate at which new targets were validated. At the end of 2022, more than 4,000 companies covering over a third of the global economy’s market capitalization, were setting targets or committing to do so via the SBTi.
The launch of the SBTi Net-Zero Standard ahead of COP26 was a milestone, providing the world’s first framework for corporate net-zero target setting. Anchored in climate science and 1.5°C pathways, the Standard requires companies to make rapid and deep emission cuts, through both near- and long-term science-based targets.
